Afternoon at the Beach

by Peter on August 17, 2009

This Sunday, I spent the afternoon at the beach of Cadboro Bay.

1810

The weather was marvelous. There were some really impressive cirrus clouds. This one in particular:

1854

These clouds are very heigh (c. 10 km) and they consist of ice. This one must have been hundreds of meters long. It shifted across the sky very slowly. After three hours it reached the horizon.

On the beach I read Safranski’s book and this:

time_brain

I found this magazine in a bookstore. It is a popularized overview of current knowledge of the brain. It covers an interesting range of topics (learning, consciousness, memory, …). It is a bit too positivistic for me, but nevertheless quite interesting.
